BECOMING A REGIONAL MASTER
by Peggy Theiss | July 2017

Peggy Theiss

I cannot believe I finally achieved Regional Master. September 2012, Julie Livolsi, one of my bridge friends/partners convinced me to join her at a duplicate bridge game at Siwanoy Country Club. I went but felt I was not ready… imagine my surprise when we came in 3rd earning my first Master Points. Fred, the director, was very helpful and convinced me to join the ACBL that day. The rest is history as I was immediately hooked. I am very fortunate to play with many fun talented partners.

I am one of 6 children and have always loved playing cards. I watched my mother play Bridge from an early age. She encouraged us to play all sorts of cards games teaching us Canasta and Spades. Many an evening the family played. She and my Dad also played social bridge, but sadly never taught us. I am really enjoying learning more aboutbridge and playing it on a regular basis. My dear friend Gloria Pappalardo, a Life Master, taught me how to play.  The Bridge Deck, a welcoming bridge club in Scarsdale, New York and Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, New York are the spots where I regularly play.  Sylwia and Mike, owners at the Bridge Deck, are a real asset to the game and should be recognized for their passion of the game that they pass on to us and Fred as well our Siwanoy Director who is always encouraging.

Finding clubs like these are key for new players, all players really, because if you have good experiences you will continue to play. We have players of all ages. Everyone is treated respectfully and with kindness.  Bridge is an important part of many people's lives. Many widows, like me and widowers are so pleased to have bridge to look forward to and enjoy!

BIG THANKS to all of you who encourage us and make this a happy part of our lives.

BRIDGE FOREVER
