Dear Teachers:

We plan to update the 100+ Tips for Becoming a Successful Bridge Teacher booklet this year.

Since we haven't published any tips on teaching the Commonly Used Conventions and More Commonly Used Conventions courses, I am especially interested in your ideas for presenting these lessons. The new tips will also be added to the online Teacher Resource Manual.

If you have any new tips for teaching Bidding (Club Series), Play of the Hand (Diamond Series) or Defense (Heart Series), please send them in as well. We'll add them to the collection already online.

Ideas for organizing classes and recruiting/retaining students are also encouraged.

Let us hear from you!

Thanks for your help!

Bridge Teacher Accreditation Programs
Select the One that’s Right for You!

The ACBL recognizes that one of the most critical needs we have is to teach newcomers how to play bridge. It goes without saying, then, that we need our teachers!

We’ve expanded our teacher training accreditation programs so that you can select the one that’s right for you.

Effective Jan. 1, 2004, the ACBL endorses three teacher accreditation programs. Upon completion of any of these programs, teachers will be recognized as accredited by the ACBL and receive benefits including The Bridge Teacher newsletter.

All three teacher training programs will be offered at each of the three North American Bridge Championships in 2004. In addition, units and districts are welcome to host one or more of these programs either during their tournaments or at a convenient time.

· Teacher Accreditation Program
The traditional Teacher Accreditation Program (TAP) managed by the ACBL Education Department. This program is based on use of the popular ACBL Bridge Lesson Series textbooks but often is adapted by teachers using their own or other materials.

For more information about the program, see the Teacher Resource Manual at www.acbl.org. Go to Information, then Education/Teachers. A calendar and sign-up sheet also are available.

· Better Bridge Accreditation Program The Better Bridge Accreditation Program managed by Audrey Grant’s Better Bridge organization. Grant has developed new methods to assist teachers in introducing players to duplicate.

For more information about the program, go to Better Bridge.

· Easybridge! Accredited Presenter Program
Easybridge! is a full marketing program designed to start a new club game by recruiting players interested in duplicate. The students learn as they play.

For more information about the program, go to Easybridge!.
