A Big
Apple for Teachers
ABTA
Convention
Where else would you find the best teacher
convention than in the Big Apple itself?
This summer New York City
hosts both the American Bridge Teachers Association
(July 7-9) and the North American Bridge
Championships (July 8-18).
The ACBL encourages all teachers to
join ABTA to take advantage of its great educational and networking
opportunities.
The convention will feature speakers from Larry Cohen to
Audrey Grant.
Click here for details on the ABTA Convention and click
here for the summer NABC.

Watch the ACBL Video
Promote the game of bridge to students, community groups or
potential sponsors.
The ACBL recently was featured as a Champion of Industry by
Pat Summerall Productions on CNN Headline News Network. A five-minute
Summerall-produced video now is ready for viewing and is a great sampling
of an NABC for players who have not yet experienced one of our premier
tournaments.
The video features footage from the 2003 Fall North American
Bridge Championships in New Orleans, including shots of players intent
on their cards and directors busily entering their scores. It also features
interviews with ACBL CEO Jay Baum, world champion Nick Nickell, teachers
Audrey Grant and Barbara Seagram and tournament director Donna Compton.

Game Expo
Columbus OH
June 24 - 27
National Education
Association
Washington D.C.
July 2 - 4
AARP
Las Vegas NV
Oct. 14 - 16
If you would like to volunteer to work with the ACBL at any of these
events, volunteer participation is welcomed!
To volunteer please contact Tawni Fite in the Marketing Department
at
901-332-5586, ext. 1357 or via e-mail at tawni.fite@acbl.org.
Want to take your game on the
road?
The ACBL has created new, lightweight trade show exhibit displays
to help you promote our great game.
These displays are for events where the audience is primarily non-members,
such as health fairs or Senior Olympics Games, and because of limited
supplies,
are not available for clubs or tournaments.
We ask that you provide the name and date of the event where
you will exhibit, as well as a shipping address and contact information.
However, we do not ask that the display be returned, so
you will be able to use it later for other purposes.
To order a complimentary display, please contact Ruth Francis
in the Marketing Department via e-mail at ruth.francis@acbl.org.

Marketing Does Matter
If you've not taken advantage of our cooperative advertising
money, here's what you are missing.
"The current 75% support (from the ACBL) is amazingly
generous.
It enables you to get 400% more bang for your buck.
The ads offered are also very eye-catching and have a great
flavor ('branding'). Anyone serious about growing their club and bringing
newcomers
into the game is darn lucky to have ACBL support behind them...
and silly to not take advantage of it."
Marti Ronemus, owner, Bridge Boardroom, York PA
"YES, YES, YES - MARKETING DOES MATTER. As a teacher for
those exciting beginner classes and director for the newcomers, I believe
we are
fortunate to have this financial support available to help
us from
the ACBL to reach those future bridge players. They are out
there and they will come if we let them know we are here for them.
It just takes a little marketing effort."
Peg Cundiff, ACBL Teacher Accreditation Trainer
