Well, here we are in the middle of June and there is lots of news for you !
The World Wide Bridge Contest came and went, and had more players than last year, which was great ! I am in the throes of sorting out all the World Year Points, Heat Winner Certificates, and all the rest of it, so if you are waiting for them, please be patient – there is rather a lot involved after we finalise this one and it takes some time.
Results etc. are at http://www.ecatsbridge.com/sims/wwbc/default.asp
if you want to have a look, and you will also find details of all the other Sim Pairs that we run at www.ecatsbridge.com/sims
The big excitement at the moment is (are?) the European Teams Championships in Malmö, Sweden. Teams from all over Europe are competing there, and you can find the results and bulletins at
http://www.eurobridge.org/competitions/04Malmo/Malmo.htm
If you like watching live VuGraph, you can find different matches on different websites – the details are at:
http://www.ecatsbridge.com/Events/ebl/malmo/vu-graph.asp
where I have a list of which matches are being shown by which website – they are all free. You just need to download some software and you can watch, which makes it all very real and exciting !
Don’t forget the World Teams Olympiad being held in Istanbul at the end of October/beginning of November which includes the World Transnational Mixed Teams … it isn’t too late to get your team nominated for this fantastic event. Details are at
http://www.ecatsbridge.com/Events/wbf/2004olympiad/default.asp
I have some “Stop Press” news for you as well, as I have just heard that the contract has been signed for the 2005 Bermuda Bowl/Venice Cup and of course the Transnational Open Teams – which are all to be held in Estoril, Portugal, from 22nd October – 5th November 2005, with the Transnational teams planned to start on Monday 31 October, so another date for your diaries. Should be a wonderful venue, and when I have a moment I will get some information into the events section on the website.
And as if that isn’t enough, I have dates for 2006 as well … and the biggest event in the WBF Calendar, the World Bridge Championships which has all the pairs and teams events and is really really exciting. It is going to be from 10 – 24 June 2006 in Verona, Italy – a fabulous venue so that is another date you should note!
Don’t forget, will you, that you can add yourself and your “bridge biography” into our “People Pages” … do make it a fun one, they are so nice to read! And add your events onto our Events Pages and your bridge club website onto our Links pages .. it is worth doing you know, a LOT of people look at www.ecatsbridge.com … really :-))
That’s probably about it for now … except to hope that the summer sun shines on you and that if you are going on holiday you have a good one.
Look after yourself!
All the best
anna
